I'm sure many of my fellow dA armorers have experienced that sideways glance you get when you show a friend your gallery full of fictional weapons...like they're wondering if they should call the police and warn them of a potential mass shooter, though they're confused because you don't seem like a violent person.

Well, that's because we're NOT violent people, at least not most of us.  If we would only draw a space marine blowing the head off of an alien, that would be cool; but, somehow, drawing the gun by itself is disturbing to many... It makes no sense to me.

Maybe it's because I have more of an eye for the technical than the organic, and guns are more fun to draw than power tools.  Maybe I like the functionality of the things.  Maybe it's because I spent a great deal of my childhood playing first-person shooters.

Whatever the reason, I draw guns...and I mean you no harm.

i feel exactly the same, and i'm sure many others do as well. thanks you for posting this.
i live in brazil, where it is almost impossible to own a gun legally. and did it reduce crime? nope, it only increased.
and well, it's not even real guns we make here, it is fictional guns. i mean, why should someone be judged by what they like to drawn? i don't like guns because they kill, i like them because of the aesthetics and all the mechanisms. i can't help it, i'm an introverted nerdy type of person and i just love to know how things work. sure, a swiss clock is complex and has interesting mechanisms as well, but it is so boring...

I was told in high school by family that my pictures make me the kind of person that educators look out for. I don't consider my self a violent person, I just really like the camaraderie and aesthetics that come with gun culture.

I also find myself very peeved when I look at comics and see unrealistic weapons, be they real or imagined, so I do my best to reference real pieces for details.

Thanks for posting this, it's a feeling that many of us gun artists have!

It's gun porn.
Like all porn, it's scary at first. :P

It's the same as a beautiful home, a stong friend, or a automobile: there is power in having access to weapons, and we can appreciate their attributes.
